Human Resources Specialist
Greater Cleveland Habitat for Humanity’s Human Resources Specialist is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day administration of the human resources department and enforcing policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
• Responsible for the administration of the full employee life cycle: including, but not limited to talent acquisition, onboarding, performance management, training, offboarding, etc. Identifies trends, makes recommendations to streamline processes, and tracks data related to turnover.
• Assists with the duties related to the DEI and Wellness Initiatives. Facilitating activities, scheduling, programming, communications related to observances, and staff outreach.
• Functions as the primary contact and administrator for employees and management on leaves of absence and return to work process (STD, LTD, pandemics, jury duty, emergency family and medical leave, etc.). Interacts with TPA as needed.
• Maintains job description library. Assists with updates, as needed, and as a part of annual review.
• Coordinates all required training, identifies topics and potential speakers, for consideration. Compiles annual calendar. Manages communication and tracks attendance.
• Interacts with Finance Department regarding employee status changes, including but not limited to onboarding, promotions, demotions, lateral moves, terminations, benefits enrollment and related updates, payroll advances, garnishments, etc.
• Works with Safety Committee as related to drills and safety-related topics, as required, to maintain health and well-being of staff.
• Functions as liaison between Greater Cleveland Habitat for Humanity and external contacts related to all HR related matters, as assigned.
• Responsible for facilitating responses to unemployment compensation claims and workers’ compensation claims. Addresses any related reporting as required.
• Administers the garnishment process.
• Completes reports and/or surveys on behalf of the organization.
• Creates and maintains staff personnel files.
• Ensures all required legal employment notices/signage are up-to-date and posted in staff areas.
• Updates and maintains agency organizational chart and staff phone list.
• Responsible for the administration of the organization’s infection prevention control response by tracking, facilitating communication with employees and management accordingly.
• Performs other duties of a similar nature as may be required.
Qualifications:
• Associates degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field of study is required. Bachelor’s degree preferred, in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field of study with an emphasis in Human Resources.
• Minimum of three (3) years of human resources related experience, preferably within a non-profit organization.
• Minimum of one (1) year of payroll related experience.
• Excellent knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting Human Resources.
• Understanding of key Human Resources practices and HRM knowledge base.
• Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and maintain confidentiality
• Excellent organizational skills with proven attention to detail in work product.
• Effective time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
• Possesses the ability to build and maintain professional relationships
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
• Ability to remain focused on task in hectic work environment.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet usage.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate specifically with an audience from diverse racial, ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds
Position Details:
• Reports to: Director of Human Resources
• Full-time, non-exempt
• Workweek: Monday through Friday
• Targeted range: $21 - $23 per hour, commensurate with experience
