
Volunteer Coordinator
Greater Cleveland Habitat for Humanity’s Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for recruiting, training, and managing volunteers to support the organization’s mission and to ensure their experience is productive, positive, and organized. The incumbent will work closely with the Volunteer Programs Manager to meet the organization's volunteer needs; will oversee organizing volunteer orientations, maintaining volunteer records, and coordinating volunteer appreciation events; and assist in developing and implementing volunteer recruitment strategies and participate in community outreach efforts to promote volunteer opportunities. Key Responsibilities:
Recruitment and Engagement:
• Schedules and conducts volunteer orientations and training programs to ensure a positive and meaningful volunteer experience.
• Coordinates recruitment and placement of volunteer personnel and services in Habitat’s operations, including construction, ReStore, and other events as needed.
• Assists with outreach efforts to congregations, civic groups, and corporations to foster their involvement with Greater Cleveland Habitat for Humanity as donors and volunteers.
• Schedules group volunteer assignments.
• Maintains volunteer communications through website maintenance, web-based recruitment sites, multi-media, and display materials.
• Maintains safety standards and satisfaction of volunteers.
Retention, Appreciation and Recognition:
• Serves as a liaison between volunteers and the organization, addressing concerns and providing necessary support.
• Assists with preparing and conducting special events, such as potlucks, Volunteer Week, BBQs, etc.
• Maintains relationships with various volunteer placement agencies, individuals, and groups.
• Maintains volunteer records and databases, tracking volunteer hours and contributions.
• Builds and maintains relationships with volunteers by regularly visiting Habitat sites throughout Cuyahoga and Lorain counties.
Recordkeeping:
• Ensures the integrity of the registration process, the recording and reporting systems, including but not limited to storage and retrieval of required legal documents and other compliance documents.
Collaboration:
• Collaborates with department managers to assess volunteer needs and provides support for ongoing projects.
• Works with the Family Programs Department to schedule and tracks volunteer service hours of partner families.
Performs other duties of a similar nature as may be required.
Qualifications:
• Associates degree in Business Administration, Human Services, Communications, or a relevant field of study. Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Minimum of two (2) years of proven experience in recruiting, coordinating, and managing volunteers, preferably in a nonprofit or community-based organization.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate volunteers from diverse backgrounds.
• Comfortable speaking in public during orientations and outreach events in both small and large groups.
• Organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
• A working knowledge of computers, email, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to lead, delegate, support, evaluate, and deploy resources.
• A commitment to creative problem-solving, continuous attention to detail, and a cooperative work ethic.
• The capacity to handle multiple tasks and changing priorities.

Position Details:
• Reports to: Volunteer Programs Manager
• Full-time, non-exempt
• Workweek: Tuesday-Saturday work week; some evenings are required.
Targeted range: $16-$18 per hour, commensurate with experience
